ABOUT DEJON
Dejon Brissett spent his early years in the Jane & Finch area before moving to Mississauga where he found his natural athletic abilities in basketball, track, and football. After a couple years at Loyola Catholic Secondary School, his talents earned him a scholarship at Lake Forest Academy (LFA), a prep school 45 minutes north of Chicago. Dejon became an athletic and academic standout at LFA, and earned himself several D1 football scholarships.
Dejon went on to graduate from the University of Richmond as an All-American, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and from the University of Virginia with a Master’s Degree in Education. Dejon was the second overall pick in the 2020 CFL draft, and won the 2022 Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts.
As a professional athlete, Dejon found his passion for giving back. He began training young athletes in 2020 with his friend and mentor Natey Adjei. After winning the Grey Cup he used his platform to speak at local high schools, basketball programs, and even a youth detention center. The fulfilling work prompted him to create Ignite Sports Group, which he plans to grow infinitely.
“My goal is to ignite the young minds of the next generation and encourage them to take control of the influences they allow in their environment. I believe that everyone should have a tangible role model. I want to serve as the constant reminder that your goals are within reach.” - Dejon Brissett
